South American wunderkind to join Man United after late Chelsea bid falls flat
Manchester United beat Chelsea to the signing of Moises Caicedo
According to Ecuadorian publication Diario Expreso (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are closing in on the signing of South American teenager Moises Caicedo.
The player is reported to have undergone his medical and is on the verge of signing a five-year deal. The deal will see United pay £4.5million for the player’s services.
There is however the issue of the player obtaining a work permit. This is because of his age and appearances in South America.
It was reported by the Daily Mail that the likes of Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle United have all shown interest in the 19-year-old.
However, United are expected to get the deal done. Once completed he will become the second Ecuadorian player after Antonio Valencia to play for the club.
Despite his age, Caicedo is already a full international for Ecuador. The youngster has so far made four appearances for his country, scoring one goal. (h/t Metro)
A move this winter will see Caicedo join up with United superstar Paul Pogba. The Frenchman was described as a role model for Caicedo. (h/t Daily Record)
Caicedo can function both as a box-to-box midfielder and also in a defensive role. There is enough potential in him to become a leading player in the future. Hopefully, he will go on to achieve that at United.
